Eight Bakersfield College Baseball Players Move On to Four-Year Programs

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Bakersfield College baseball is celebrating the advancement of six Renegade student-athletes who will continue their academic and athletic careers at four-year institutions.

Catcher Ben Ullyott has signed with Ottawa University, an NAIA program in Surprise, Arizona. The Spirit competes in the Golden State Athletic Conference under head coach Tim Montez. Ullyott hit .292 over 63 games and posted a .979 fielding percentage, showcasing strong defensive leadership behind the plate.

Outfielder Isaac Torres is headed to Colorado Mesa University, an NCAA Division II powerhouse located in Grand Junction, Colorado. A member of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, the Mavericks are led by veteran head coach Chris Hanks. Torres batted .352 in 58 games, driving in 54 runs and recording 76 hits.

Right-handed pitcher Ryan Morales will join the University of Jamestown, an NCAA Division II program in Jamestown, North Dakota, that competes in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference under head coach Tom Hager. Morales made 15 appearances in striking out 82 batters over 76 innings.

Another Renegade right-hander, Andres Rivera, is transferring to Midland University, an NAIA institution in Fremont, Nebraska, where he'll compete in the Great Plains Athletic Conference under head coach Shea Bennett. Rivera pitched in 27 games total, earning two saves and striking out 62 over 91.2 innings.

Pitcher Frank Fabian will join Newman University, an NCAA Division II school in Wichita, Kansas, that competes in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA). The Jets are coached by Drew Maus. Fabian made 13 appearances for the Renegades last season, striking out 16. 

Three Renegades, Jayce Moore (LHP), Dadjael Salcedo (MIF), and Trenton Hernandez (IF), have committed to Mid-America Christian University, an NAIA program in Oklahoma City. The Evangels play in the Sooner Athletic Conference under head coach Brett Stanton.

Moore appeared in 24 games for the Renegades and finished his career with 46 strikeouts. This last season Salcedo shined with three home runs and 16 RBIs, while Hernandez had two home runs and 19 RBIs.
