Renegades Sweep Moorpark in Opening Weekend Series at Gerry Collis Field

BAKERSFIELD, CA - The Bakersfield College Renegades opened the 2026 season with an impressive two-game sweep of Moorpark College, winning 12–10 on Friday and closing the series with a 10–5 victory on Saturday at Gerry Collis Field.

Game 1: Bakersfield 12, Moorpark 10 (Jan. 23)
The Renegades used a balanced offensive attack and timely hitting to edge Moorpark in a back-and-forth series opener.

Bakersfield finished with 13 hits and plated runs in five different innings. Brady Baird led the offensive effort, going 3-for-5 with two RBIs, while Nick Martin added a pair of hits and drove in two. Luke Shaw and Santiago Blanco each contributed extra-base hits, and Jordan Mora drove in two runs while drawing two walks.

On the mound, Jacob Berumen earned the win in relief after throwing 3.1 innings and limiting Moorpark to just one hit. The Renegades' bullpen worked through traffic late, closing out the game to secure the season-opening victory.

Game 2: Bakersfield 10, Moorpark 5 (Jan. 24)
Bakersfield followed up Friday's win with another strong performance on Saturday, scoring early and pulling away late to complete the sweep.

The Renegades jumped out to a four-run first inning and added runs in the middle and late frames to keep Moorpark at bay. Jordan Brito sparked the offense with a pair of hits and two RBIs, while Jordan Mora added a triple and drove in a run. Liam O'Reilly doubled and drove in a run, and Luke Shaw and Nick Martin each added RBIs as part of a seven-hit team effort.

On the mound, Logan Judd picked up the win in relief after a scoreless inning, while Tony Fabian earned the save, allowing no runs over the final 1.2 innings. Bakersfield's pitching staff combined to hold Moorpark to five runs while working around traffic throughout the game.

With the sweep, the Renegades opened the 2026 season 2–0 and will travel to College of the Sequoias on Tuesday, January 27th and return home on Thursday for a 2:00PM showdown.
