Renegades Take Series in High-Scoring Battle with West LA

BAKERSFIELD, CA- Bakersfield College battled through an offensive-heavy three-game series against West LA, ultimately securing two wins to take the series and improve conference play. The weekend was highlighted by explosive run production, clutch hitting, and standout performances at the plate—none bigger than Landon McDonald, who continued his record-chasing season with another home run and a series full of impact swings.

The opener at Gerry Collis Field set the tone for the series, as the Renegades outlasted West LA in a wild 15-13 comeback victory. After falling behind early, Bakersfield responded with a 13-run surge over the middle innings, fueled by McDonald's five RBIs, including a home run, along with multi-hit efforts from Jordan Brito, Jordan Mora, and Tryce Spainhoward. Despite giving up 13 runs, the bullpen settled in late, with Tony Fabian earning the win after four shutout innings to close the door.

Game two turned into an all-out slugfest on the road, with Bakersfield narrowly falling 19-18 in one of the highest-scoring games of the season. The Renegades jumped out early with 13 runs in the first three innings and saw big offensive contributions across the lineup, including four RBIs from Brady Baird and Jordan Mora. McDonald crossed the plate five times and continued to be a catalyst offensively, but a late eight-run inning by West LA proved to be the difference.

Bakersfield responded in the rubber match back at home, securing an 11-5 victory to clinch the series. The offense remained consistent, tallying 14 hits behind strong performances from Mora, Luke Camps, and Brady Baird. Camps added a home run and two RBIs, while McDonald contributed another two RBIs. On the mound, Jacob Berumen delivered a solid start, and the bullpen combination of Fabian and Wyatt Ashe shut things down late.

Across the three games, Bakersfield's offense was relentless, combining for 44 runs and showcasing depth throughout the lineup. BC is now 14-14 on the season and 5-4 in conference play. Up next, they will head out for a three-game series with Canyons starting Tuesday.
