BAKERSFIELD, CA – The Bakersfield College baseball team secured a series victory over LA Mission, winning two of three games in a competitive and offense-heavy matchup to improve to 17-17 overall and 8-7 in conference play.
Game 1: Bakersfield 7, LA Mission 6
The Renegades opened the series with a dramatic late-game comeback at home. Trailing 6-1 heading into the eighth inning, Bakersfield erupted for six runs to take the lead for good.
A key offensive surge was led by Luke Shaw, who went 3-for-4 with two RBIs, while Tryce Spainhoward added two hits, including an RBI, and scored twice. Nick Martin chipped in with a pair of hits and an RBI.
On the mound, Chance Gerecke delivered a strong start, tossing eight innings with seven strikeouts and allowing just two earned runs, keeping BC within striking distance before the late rally sealed the win.
Game 2: Bakersfield 12, LA Mission 8
The Renegades carried that momentum into game two, exploding for 12 runs on 16 hits in a high-scoring road victory. A seven-run third inning highlighted the offensive outburst.
Brady Baird powered the offense with two home runs and five RBIs, while Nick Martin and Jordan Brito combined for five hits and three RBIs at the top of the lineup. Landon McDonald reached base six times, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three walks.
After a tough outing from the bullpen early, Logan Judd shut the door with three scoreless innings in relief to secure the win.
Game 3: LA Mission 15, Bakersfield 3
In the series finale, LA Mission responded with a big offensive performance, scoring 15 runs on 14 hits to avoid the sweep. Bakersfield collected eight hits, with Nick Martin recording two and Jordan Mora driving in a run, but the Renegades were unable to keep pace after a late surge by the Eagles.
Despite the loss, Bakersfield's pitching staff showed flashes, including a scoreless outing from Kaleb Pinedo in relief.
Across the three games, Bakersfield's offense proved to be a major factor, totaling 29 runs and 34 hits.
BC moves to 17-17 on the season and will start their next three-game series on Tuesday, April 14th against Glendale at home with a 2:00PM start time.
