Second Half Dooms Renegades in 45-24 Loss to Pasadena
PASADENA, CA - It was a tale of two polar opposite halves of football Saturday night as Bakersfield College traveled to Pasadena City College looking forward to ending their 2 game losing skid as well as picking up their first conference win of the season.
 
The Renegades jumped out to a 17 point lead beginning with a Carlos Villa Villa 23 yard Field Goal with 57 seconds remaining in the 1st quarter.
 
Concluding three straight defensive stops by the Renegade defense (punt-fumble-punt), the Renegades put together a 12 play, 77 yard drive capped by Carson Woods' 2-yard TD pass to Dylan Foster at the 5:59 mark of the 2nd quarter.
 
Another defensive stop, an interception by Brock Wattenbar, set up the next Renegade touchdown as Ja'Daniel Nettl's 2 yard plunge into the endzone capped a 9 play 47 yard drive. On the last play of the 1st half, the Lancers kicked a field goal to make the score 17-3 Renegades.
 
Pasadena then reeled off 42 unanswered points in the 2nd half before BC closed out the scoring late in the 4th quarter as quarterback Malachi Statler's 15 yard TD pass to Dylan Johnson with 41 seconds making the final score 45-24.
 
Ian Jernigan (125 yards) and Nettl (83 yards) led the rushing attack for BC and Nsongbeh Ginyui led the defense with 7 solo tackles and 2 assists.
 
BC (2-3, 0-2) now have their bye week ahead of them before returning to Memorial Stadium Saturday October 11versus Cerritos (4-1, 2-0) also coming off their bye week, in the Homecoming Game against the Falcons. Kick off set for 4pm and admission is free.
