SANTA CLARITA, CA - The up and down 2025 football season for the Renegades (4-6, 2-5) came to a conclusion Saturday afternoon with a 17-10 road loss against College of the Canyons.
Trailing 10-0 after 3 quarters, BC pulled to within 3 points on a Ja'Daniel Nettles' 13 yard rushing touchdown early in the 4th quarter and then tied the game with Karter Kolesar's 35 yard field goal at 6:34. Aided by two personal fouls against the Renegades, the Cougars needed only three plays on their next possession to regain the lead at 17-10.
COC's subsequent kickoff landed out of bounds and BC took possession at their own 35 yard line with 4:30 remaining in the game. From that starting point, the Gades strung together a mixture of running and passing plays advancing down to COC's 10 yard line with 22 seconds remaining. A second down pass fell incomplete and after calling their final timeout with 18 seconds on the clock, quarterback Malachi Statler's pass into the endzone was intercepted, ending the attempted comeback.
