Henderson’s Double-Double Powers BC to Victory Over Moorpark

BAKERSFIELD, CA - The Bakersfield College men's basketball team put together one of its most complete performances of the young season so far on Tuesday night, defeating Moorpark 83–69 at the Renegade Athletic Center to improve to 5–3.

The Renegades set the tone early with efficient shooting, hitting over 51% from the field in the first half to take a 37–30 lead at the break. BC continued to control the pace in the second half behind dominant play from Zykiar Henderson, who delivered a monster double-double with 27 points (12–15 FG) and 14 rebounds, adding 3 blocks and 2 steals in a statement performance.

Markell Brooks powered the Renegades inside, finishing with 17 points and 9 rebounds, while Gustavo Chavez provided a spark from the perimeter, knocking down five three-pointers on his way to 15 points, 4 assists, and 4 steals.

Bakersfield's rebounding effort proved critical, as the team grabbed 51 boards—including 18 on the offensive end—leading to 16 second-chance points. Their physicality in the paint resulted in a 46–24 scoring advantage near the rim.

James Miller added 6 points and a team-high 6 assists, while Godwill Fomusoh contributed 6 points, 6 rebounds, and steady defensive presence.

Moorpark's Aiden Bitran led the visiting Raiders with 15 points, while Roman Finney added 10, but BC's defensive pressure and interior dominance kept the Raiders at arm's length throughout the second half.

The Renegades closed the night shooting 47.2% from the field and an efficient 77.8% at the line to secure the victory.

Bakersfield will be back at the RAC next week, starting with a game against Victor Valley on Tuesday and another on Thursday against Allan Hancock. Both games have tip-off times set for 5:00 PM.
