BAKERSFIELD, CA. - The Bakersfield College men's basketball team used a strong second-half push to secure a 77–71 victory over LA Valley on Wednesday evening. With the win, the Renegades improved to 16-11 overall and 8-5 in conference play.
The game was tightly contested throughout, with both teams deadlocked at 39–39 at halftime. Bakersfield found separation in the final 20 minutes, outscoring LA Valley 38–32 to complete the home victory.
Zykiar Henderson led the way with a dominant 28-point performance, shooting 13-of-23 from the field while adding nine rebounds. Markell Brooks recorded a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds, anchoring the Renegades on the glass. Godwill Fomusoh added eight points and eight rebounds, while Tyron Tyler chipped in 10 points.
Bakersfield controlled the boards, outrebounding LA Valley 52–36, including a commanding 24 offensive rebounds that led to a 24–13 advantage in second-chance points. The Renegades also dominated in the paint, holding a 30–14 edge inside.
Despite shooting just 15.6 percent from three-point range, Bakersfield's physical play and rebounding proved to be the difference. The Renegades were also perfect at the free-throw line, going 6-for-6.
The Renegades will play their final regular season game on Friday, February 20thagainst College of the Canyons.
