LOMPOC, CA - The Bakersfield College golf team competed in a very strong field at the Pt. Conception Invitational held Sunday and Monday, January 25–26, at the notoriously difficult La Purisima Golf Course. Facing 16 teams, including multiple state-ranked programs, the Renegades finished 9th overall with a two-day team score of 667.
La Purisima once again proved why it is considered one of the toughest championship layouts in California. Cold conditions, heavy winds, firm greens, and demanding tee shots tested every aspect of the players' games. The course and elite competition made scoring extremely challenging throughout the event.
A major highlight of the tournament was the team's strong bounce-back performance on Monday, improving its overall team score by 21 shots from the opening round. The improvement showed the team's resilience, focus, and ability to make adjustments against one of the hardest tests they will face all season.
Team captain Jacob Roldan led the way, posting a team-low 162 over 36 holes. His steady play and leadership set the tone for the squad and helped anchor the team against a deep and talented field.
With several state-ranked teams in attendance, the Pt. Conception Invitational provides an excellent measuring stick for the Renegades. The team will look to build on Monday's momentum as they continue to prepare for conference play.
