LANCASTER, CA - The Bakersfield College men's soccer team continued its strong conference run with a 2–1 road victory over Antelope Valley on Friday afternoon.
The Renegades came out strong in the first half, finding the back of the net twice before halftime. Freshman Alejandro Alvarez opened the scoring in the 19th minute off an assist from Luis Gil, who went on to play a pivotal role in the offense. Just before the break, Gil connected again, this time setting up Javier Villatoro in the 43rd minute to double BC's lead.
Antelope Valley managed to cut the deficit early in the second half in the 50th minute, but Bakersfield's defense held firm the rest of the way. Goalkeeper Brian Ruvalcaba anchored the back line with six saves, keeping the Renegades ahead to secure the win.
With the victory, Bakersfield improves to 10-4-4 overall and 4-1-1 in conference play. They will host Cayons tomorrow for a 3:00 pm kickoff.
