GLENDALE, CA - The Bakersfield men's soccer team closed out the regular season road matches with a hard-fought 3–2 win on the road against Glendale on Tuesday, improving to 13-4-4 overall and 7-1-1 in conference play.
The Renegades exploded early, scoring all three of their goals within the first 16 minutes. Alejandro Alvarez opened the match with a finish in the 6th minute off a setup from Ulysses Garcia, then Andrew Nava doubled the lead at the 11-minute mark after receiving a long assist from goalkeeper Aaden Zamora. Alvarez struck again in the 15th minute, this time assisted by Nava, to put BC ahead 3–0.
Glendale battled back late in the first half, cutting the deficit to one with goals in the 35th and 45th minutes. Despite the mounting pressure and 19 shots from the Vaqueros, the Renegades held strong defensively throughout a scoreless second half.
Zamora anchored the back line with an outstanding performance, recording nine saves to secure the victory.
With the win, Bakersfield moves up in conference, but will play one more game at home against Antelope Valley to determine if they will share a conference championship with Santa Monica. Friday, November 14th, the team will reconginze its sophomores before kickoff at 3:00 pm.
