VENTURA, CA - The Bakersfield College men's swim team kicked off its season with a 7th place finish out of 10 in Ventura.
The Renegades' 200 free relay team of Jacob Zimmerman, David Hernandez, Manuel Castro, and Bensi Alvarez placed seventh overall. Individually, David Hernandez led the way with third-place finishes in both the 100 backstroke and 200 individual medley, while also taking sixth in the 100 IM. Jacob Zimmerman added a pair of runner-up finishes, placing second in the 50 freestyle and 100 butterfly.
Additional top-16 performances came from Luke Butterworth in the 100 breaststroke (13th), Manuel Castro in the 500 freestyle (14th), Mateo Alvarez in the 100 breaststroke (15th), and Bensi Alvarez in the 100 backstroke (16th).
Up next, swim will head to El Camino College for the El Camino Invite on Friday, February 13th.
