BAKERSFIELD, CA - Bakersfield College men's track and field turned in an impressive showing this weekend, highlighted by 16 top-10 finishes and multiple personal bests across running, jumping, and throwing events.
Leading the way on the track, freshman Jacob Quezada delivered a pair of standout performances, placing third in the 1500 meters (4:09.70) and fourth in the 800 meters (1:58.92). In the 400-meter hurdles, Orlando Zuniga secured a fourth-place finish in 1:05.38.
In the field events, the Renegades dominated the jumps. Freshman Cordayr Brown captured the long jump title with a personal-best leap of 6.73m and added a third-place finish in the high jump (1.80m PB). Teammate Christian McCoy Perez placed third in the long jump as well with a personal-best mark of 6.47m, while Kai Wilkins cleared a personal-best 1.90m to take second in the high jump.
The throwers added significant points with several top finishes. In the shot put, Israel Rivera led the way with a fourth-place throw of 12.19m (PB), followed by Donavan Garcia in sixth (12.07m), Alexander Rosas in seventh (11.81m PB), and Aaron Egbetsemi in ninth (10.77m).
Bakersfield continued its strong showing in the discus, where Mason Level finished fifth (38.70m), Julian Vargas took sixth (35.63m), Daniel Olvera placed seventh (35.16m), and Jayden Torres rounded out the top 10 in 10th (32.43m).
In the hammer throw, the Renegades placed seven athletes in the top 10, led by Mason Level in fourth (41.29m) and Julian Vargas in fifth (41.27m). Jayden Torres (6th, 37.48m), Angel Ruiz (7th, 37.33m PB), Donavan Garcia (8th, 36.57m), Alexander Rosas (9th, 36.36m SB), and Jacob Alvarez (10th, 34.94m PB) added to the team's depth.
Alvarez also earned a sixth-place finish in the javelin with a personal-best throw of 38.46m.
