Renegades Compete at Moorpark Open

MOORPARK, CA - The Bakersfield College men's track and field team competed at the Moorpark Open, highlighted by several top-10 finishes and personal best performances.

Leading the way on the track, freshman Jacob Quezada delivered a standout performance in the 800 meters, placing 5th overall with a time of 1:59.31. Teammate Edgar Gil also cracked the top 10, finishing 9th in the 1500 meters (4:25.20) while adding a personal-best effort in the 800 meters.

In the field events, Bakersfield made a strong impact in the throws. Freshman Daniel Olvera earned a podium finish with a 3rd-place mark in the discus (42.36m), while Jayden Torres followed with a 10th-place finish. In the jumps, Christian McCoy recorded a personal-best leap of 6.56m to finish 9th in the long jump, and Samiar Grady added another top performance with a 4th-place finish in the triple jump (13.65m).

Additional top-10 efforts came from Orlando Zuniga, who placed 9th in the pole vault with a personal-best clearance, and Daniel Cuevas, who secured a 7th-place finish in the 3000m steeplechase with a personal-best time.

Up next, BC will take a week off to start prepping for the Western State Conference Prelims next Friday and Saturday.
