Renegades Sweep Doubleheader, Improve to 4–4 on Season

BAKERSFIELD, CA - The Bakersfield College softball team earned two dominant victories on Saturday at the Gay Sports Complex, defeating Ventura and Riverside to improve its overall record to 4–4 on the season.

In the opener, the Renegades powered past Ventura, 11–3, behind a strong offensive showing and solid pitching from Lillian Visser. Bakersfield jumped out to an early lead with an eight-run first inning and never looked back. Visser went the distance, allowing just four hits while striking out one.

Offensively, Sophie Oliver and Alexia Marquez each drove in two runs, while Andrea Barajas added a pair of RBIs and a double. Emily Hernandez, Cambria Scott, and Isabella Harrison also contributed run-producing hits, as Bakersfield finished with 12 hits in the victory.

The momentum carried into game two, as the Renegades cruised past Riverside, 11–1. Bakersfield took control early with four runs in the first inning and added five more in the third to secure the win.

Alexia Martinez led the way in the circle, tossing a complete game while allowing just one run on four hits. At the plate, Sophie Oliver went 3-for-4 with two RBIs, while Alexia Marquez and Isabella Harrison each drove in two runs. Martinez also helped her own cause with two hits and two RBIs.
