Softball Splits the day at Sequoias

BAKERSFIELD, CA - Bakersfield softball split Tuesday's rescheduled doubleheader at Sequoias, falling 4-3 in the opener before erupting for a 13-5 win in Game 2.

In Game 1, the Renegades battled back after surrendering two early runs, plating two in the second and adding another in the fifth. Sophie Oliver, Cambria Scott, and Jennifer Padilla each drove in a run, while Maddy Ortiz added a hit and scored. Alexia Martinez went the distance in the circle, allowing three earned runs over 6.1 innings, but Sequoias pushed across the go-ahead run in the seventh to secure the 4-3 decision.

Bakersfield responded in a big way in Game 2, exploding for 11 runs in the second inning to take control. The Renegades pounded out 17 hits, led by Alexia Marquez's perfect 5-for-5 performance with two RBIs. Lexi Rolin drove in three runs, while Sophie Oliver and Alexia Martinez added two RBIs apiece. Emily Hernandez scored three times, and Lillian Visser contributed at the plate and earned the win in the circle, tossing six innings.

With the split, Bakersfield moves to 5-7 overall, showing resilience with a dominant offensive rebound in the nightcap.
