Renegades Rally Late to Outlast LA Mission in 10–9 Thriller

BAKERSFIELD, CA. — The Bakersfield College softball team staged a late rally to defeat LA Mission College 10–9 on Thursday afternoon in a back-and-forth contest at home.

Both teams finished with 12 hits, but the Renegades capitalized on key moments late in the game to secure the win. Bakersfield jumped out early, scoring three runs in the second inning and three more in the third to take a 6–0 lead. LA Mission responded with a five-run fourth inning and continued to chip away, eventually taking a late lead before Bakersfield answered again in the sixth.

Sophie Oliver led the Renegades at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs scored, while Lexi Rolin added a strong performance with two hits, including a double, two runs scored, and an RBI. Andrea Barajas contributed two hits, including a double, and two RBIs, and Elizabeth Alderete added another two RBIs to help fuel the offense.

Alexia Martinez was a major factor for Bakersfield, reaching base four times with four walks and scoring three runs, while also pitching five innings in the circle. Maddy Ortiz added two hits and an RBI, and Emily Hernandez drove in two runs.

In the circle, Cassidy Torres closed out the game, pitching the final two innings and allowing just one run while striking out two to help secure the victory.

Softball moves to 12-10 on the season and will host Citrus College on Tuesday, March 17th for a 2:00 PM start.
