Women's Track and Field Compete at Moorpark Season Opener

MOORPARK, CA - The Bakersfield College women's track and field team competed at Moorpark for its second meet of the season with several personal records.

Freshman Marilu Flores led the sprint group, placing 10th in the 60 meters with a personal-best time of 8.38 before winning the 150 meters in 19.61, also a PR. Journey Lee added personal-best efforts in both the 60 (8.92) and 150 (21.56), while Rhiyana Patterson and Joslynn Mejia recorded PRs in the 60.

In the distance events, Sofia Moody earned third place in the 1,500 meters with a personal-best 5:19.74 and capturing first in the 3,000 meters with a PR of 11:15.95. Addyson Eggers, Mia Leisenfelder, Ashley Pitter, and Alexis Lopez all posted personal-best times in both races, showcasing strong depth in the distance group.

In the throwing events, Karly Mundy led the way with a second-place finish in the hammer (39.01m PR), while also placing ninth in the shot put and recording a personal best in the discus (27.96m). Kaira Hubble added a PR in the shot put, and A'leya Bell contributed solid efforts in both throwing events.

Up next, BC will host seven schools for their annual Battle of the Regions on Friday, February 13th. The first meet is set to start at 11:00 AM.
