BAKERSFIELD, CA – Bakersfield College Athletics is proud to introduce Penelope Zepeda as the Interim Program Director of the BC Women's Volleyball program, joined by Assistant Coach Alyson Dees.
Zepeda, a Frontier High School and BC alumna, steps into the leadership role following the retirement of longtime head coach Carl Ferreira. A former AVCA All-American, WSC MVP, and standout Renegade athlete, Zepeda brings both playing and coaching experience to the program. After transferring her playing career to Stanislaus State and earning her Bachelor's in Psychology, she returned to BC as an assistant coach, where she has contributed to training, recruiting, and program development. Currently pursuing her Master's degree, Zepeda leads with a player-first philosophy centered on growth, accountability, and competing at a high level.
Joining her is Assistant Coach Alyson Dees, another proud Bakersfield native and BC alumna. Dees was a decorated Renegade student-athlete, earning WSC Player of the Year honors and two AVCA All-American selections before completing her career at Purdue University Northwest. She later transitioned into coaching as a Graduate Assistant at Purdue Northwest while earning her Master of Science in Psychology. Now back at Bakersfield College, Dee's focuses on building team culture, mental toughness, and player development both on and off the court.
Together, Zepeda and Dees bring a unique combination of experience, passion, and commitment to student-athlete success, ready to guide the Renegades into a new era of women's volleyball.
