CULVER CITY, CA - The Bakersfield College volleyball team put together a dominant performance on the road Friday night, sweeping West LA in straight sets (25-15, 25-8, 25-15) to start conference play strong.
The Renegades controlled the match from start to finish, hitting an impressive .289 as a team while holding the Wildcats to a -.049 hitting percentage.
Sophomore Alexandra Watts led the attack with 7 kills on just 10 swings (.600), adding 2 service aces, 2 solo blocks, and 4 block assists for a match-high 13 points. Freshman Lainey Sterling was nearly perfect with 5 kills and no errors (.556), while Paige Fredrick chipped in 5 kills, 2 aces, and 1 block assist.
Setter Maya Barron finished the night with 20 assists and 2 aces, while Anahi King provided 7 kills and a service ace. Defensively, BC's back row combined for 23 digs, with Watts and Sterling leading the charge at the net.
With the win, Bakersfield improves to 4-11. The Renegades return to action next week to take on Santa Monica.
