Renegades Battle in Five-Set Thriller Against Santa Monica

BAKERSFIELD, CA - Bakersfield College volleyball put up a hard-fought performance on their home court Friday night but ultimately fell to Santa Monica College, 3–2 (26–28, 22–25, 25–18, 25–15, 15–5).

The Renegades came out strong, taking the first two sets behind an energetic home crowd and efficient offensive play. However, Santa Monica regrouped to win the next three sets, sealing the comeback victory in the fifth.

Alexandra Watts led BC's offense with 15 kills and 7 block assists, while Anahi King and Maya Barron added 9 kills each. Setter Taylor Drake recorded 14 assists, and defensive specialist Chloe Lopez anchored the back row with an impressive 25 digs.

Despite the tough loss, Bakersfield showed improvement across the lineup, pushing a talented Santa Monica squad to the limit in a back-and-forth match. The Renegades will travel to College of the Canyons on Wednesday before returning home to host Antelope Valley on Friday, October 31st.
