Pirates double-up Bakersfield, 6-3

BAKERSFIELD -- The Orange Coast College men's tennis team made the most of its long road trip to Bakersfield College on Tuesday as the Pirates came home with a 6-3 nonconference win over the Renegades.

OCC (5-2) took two of the three doubles matches to grab an early lead in the competition as the teams of Yuta Kawabata/Kai Rodriguez (8-1) and Faress Sorial/Jake Hastings (8-1) gave the Pirates the lead heading into singles play.

Kawabata made it 2-for-2 as he rolled to a 6-3, 7-5 win in singles. Ryan Palaeologus (7-5, 6-3), Elijah Morley (6-4, 6-4) and Khalid Alsadek (6-4, 6-0) each picked up straight-set wins to preserve the team win for the Pirates.

Coast returns to the OCC Tennis Complex on Tuesday against Glendale, beginning at 2 p.m.
