And they don't want to become that team.
"Yeah, I'm conscious of it," defensive back Dom Frasch said, "We haven't lost four (to start the season) season before World War II. Obviously we don't want to set that particular record."
While Canyons is 4-0, their oponents have a combined 3-12 record, while BC played 3 of the six best teams in the state to start the season.
Last week, the Renegade coaching staff elected to promote Kern Valley product Dalton Gallis to the starting quarterback position, and he paid them back for their loyalty by passing for 256 yards and four touchdowns.
"But he aslo made a couple of Freshman mistakes," Offensive Coordinator Carl Dean said, "The two fumbles were costly."
Gallis was a three sport star athlete for Division Five Kern Valley, batting .500 his senior season in baseball, leading his basketball team to the playoffs, and setting career marks in football.
But observers say blame can't be laid at the feet of previous starter Tarek Yaeggie, or his backups Noah Holle and Brandon Steele.
"It's a team sport in every sense, you've got 11 guys carrying out a very coordinated effort on every play," Head Coach Jeff Chudy said, "so you can't blame one player for your losses."
Gallis demonstrated the ability to extend plays with his feet against Hancock last week, while Curtis McGregor and Isaiah Sharp provided a very effective one-two punch in the backfield.
Dominic Frasch, Jordan Nichols, and company will have thier hands full on defense as Canyons' quarterback is a dynamic player with many weapons at his disposal.
Kickoff is at 1pm .
