A controversial personal foul call crushed any chance the Renegades had at tying the game at the end. 

"I don't understand how they lost that game," Californian VP Louis Amestoy said, "It might have been their best defensive effort of the season." 

The 'Gades held COC running back Kenny Torrence to 53 yards on 21 carries, but QB Devon Dunn was special, completing 20 of 31 passes for 254 yards and three touchodowns through the air. 

Freshman QB Dalton Gallis came back down to Earth after throwing four touchdown passes in his college debut against Hancock last week. He was 9 of 20 for 221 yards and a touchdown. 

West product David Ross continues to develop as a receiver. He caught two passes for 103 yards, including an electric 88 yard pass play for a touchdown where he racked up most of the yards after the catch. 

Bakersfield College last started as season 0-4 in 1940. This is the first time they've lost five straight to open a campaign.
