MEN'S SOCCER CAN'T STOP CANYONS

The Bakersfield College Men's Soccer Team (2-9-3, 0-3) let mistakes and turnovers get between them and a positive outcome as they lost to College of the Canyons (5-9-1, 1-2) 3-1 in Valencia Tuesday evening.

BC fell behind 1-0 on a penalty in the first half, but stayed competitive and aggressive, outshooting Canyons by half a dozen over the course of the game.

Canyons struck first in the second half on a missplayed ball close to goal, to fall behind 2-0.

But the Renegades clawed back into the game when Edwin Bernal scored his team-leading sixth goal of the season in the 52nd minute with help from teammates Jorge Reyes and Eder Garcia

Playing to at least tie Canyons, BC fought off attacks before seeing Josue Cartagena score an unassisted goal that 'Gade keeper Frank Arreola had no play on.

"That was just a great shot," Head Coach Vayron Martinez said, "Players make plays. But it didn't have to be the difference-maker if we don't make earlier mistakes in the match."

BC hosts Glendale this Friday, October 21st in Memorial Stadium at 7p.
