Men's Soccer Keep Conference Title Hopes Alive with a 2-0 Win over AVC

Bakersfield, CA –   Bakersfield College men's soccer team hosted the Antelope Valley College Marauder in a Western State Conference South matchup and came away with a 2-0 victory that keeps them in the hunt for the WSC South Conference Title as they lead the conference currently.

The first half was an aggressive and defensive battle with several yellow cards handed out on both sides.  Despite AVC taking six shots on goals and BC accounting for seven, none made it pass the line. Goalkeeper Adrian Sandoval made a few key saves in an otherwise scoreless 45 minutes.

Into the second half and the first 15 minutes began another aggressive bout by trading turns taking yellow cards. Forward Andrew Cobb would turn the game around and score for the Renegades in the 63rd minute. Cobb recorded his first collegiate goal. Within 10 minutes Anthony Miron would shoot a bullet from the left side at almost mid field and get the insurance goal for Bakersfield. For the remaineder of the game, the team kept pushing forward to preserve the victory and keep the Marauders from scoring.

Although Antelope Valley had about 10 shots on goal in the second half alone, it wasn't enough to get passed Sandoval who saved four of those shots. On the night, the goalkeeper tallied seven saves.

With the win, the Renegades improve to 8-5-4 overall and 4-0-1 in conference. With the WSC South title still on the line with three more regular season games, two on the road after tonight including hosting their final regular season game of the year against Canyons on Friday (11/12) at 3:00pm.
