Men's Soccer Falls to San Bernardino Valley at Home

BAKERSFIELD, CA - The Bakersfield College men's soccer team played on a Tuesday morning game against San Bernardino Valley College. Today's temperature was expected to hit a high of 115 degrees at the original time, 4:00pm but both teams had decided to move the game time up. The heat was setting in for both the Renegades and Wolverines but in the end it was the visiting SBVC to go home with a 5-2 win.

In the first 45 minutes five total goals were scored, with the first being five minutes into the game from the Wolverines. Not too long after that, the second goal from SBVC was scored at the 11th minute. A much needed water break was given around the 20th minute and within a few minutes from the break Bakersfield was on the board. Sophomore Anthony Miron scored his first goal of the season at the 23rd minute but San Bernardino answered back with another goal at the 33rd. The final goal in the half came from freshman Jobanni Hernandez, who scored his second college career goal at the 35th minute with a straight shot from the right field into the left of the net to lift BC from only being down by a point.

It was only getting hotter in the final 45 minutes of the game and both teams could feel it as tensions were rising. SBVC scored in the first minute of the half and again at the 70th minute. Unfortunately, Bakersfield was able to find themselves with another goal before the final whistle.

Goalkeeper Victore Melendez ended the game with 5 total saves.

With the lost, they move to 1-2-1 on the season. Up next, the team will travel next week to play at Cerritos College (09/09) and will return home on Tuesday (9/13) against East Los Angeles with a 4:00pm kickoff.
