Softball Falls to Riverside

Bakersfield, CA – After dropping the first game of the day to Pasadena City, the Bakersfield College softball team hosted Riverside City on Saturday afternoon and came away with their second loss of the day, 11-9.

Saidee Banuelos hit an RBI dobule for BC in the bottom of the second to bring Alexis Venegas home from second to open the scoring. Another Renegade run crossed the plate after Savannah Gonzalez was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. Atlantis Rede then had an RBI groundout to score Ashley Hernandez.

In the bottom of the third, Natilee Parrish hit a solo homerun as the first batter up in the inning. Lysette Castro then had a sacrifice fly to score Venegas and increase the lead to 5-0.

Riverside came alive in the top of the fourth, scoring five runs to tie the game before BC was able to get the third out and end the inning. Venegas answered back for BC in the bottom of the inning with a two RBI double to score Natile Parrish and Kylee Fahy. Banuelos then belted a two-run homerun to increase the lead to 9-5.

The Tigers responded with a three-run top of the fifth. They then got another in the sixth to tie it up and then scored two go-ahead runs in the seventh to take the lead for good, 11-9.

Fahy started the game at pitcher for BC, going all six innings collecting seven strikeouts.

With today's results, BC drops to 13-13 overall.

Next up, the Renegades will host Santa Barbara on Tuesday 3/26 at 2:30pm.
