BC FIGHTS BUT CAN'T SQUARE UP PASADENA CITY

Despite forcing 34 Pasadena City College turnovers, Bakersfield College fell 70-51 in the final game of the J & Varlene Turner Stacey Stanley Memorial Cross-Over Tournament Friday night in the Gil Bishop Sports Center. 

 

The Renegades scored the game's first points on a Kennedy Nielson three-pointer before Pasadena City College scored the next 20 points to take its largest lead of the frame. Trailing 20-3, BC mounted a 16-1 run that got the 'Gades back into the game. BC would trail 40-33 at half. The Renegades were only able to connect on 2-of-17 field goal attempts in the third quarter as PCC outscored BC 17-6. The Renegades were only outscored by on, 13-12 in the fourth quarter.

 

Bakersfield College made 18 steals but were only able to turn the Pasadena City College mistakes into 10 points. BC committed 21 turnovers which resulted in 20 PCC points. The Lancers outrebounded the Renegades 62-31 as three players; Kailyn Gideon (15), Ilianna Blanc (13), and Alisa Shinn (10) pulled in double-digit rebounds. Blanc completed a double-double with a game high 21 points.

 

BC was led by Marissa Figueroa who scored 11 points. Kayla Scott, scored seven points, led the 'Gades with three assists, and tied for the team high with three other players with three steals. BC returns to the court next Friday at the Riverside City College Tournament, playing Rio Hondo College at 5 p.m.
