The Bakersfield College Women's basketball team (9-6) beat West Hills (6-9) 85-43 to close out the 2016 calendar year in style at the Gil Bishop Sports Center Friday night.

"I'm just really proud of these kids," Coach Paula Dahl said, "When we came back from the break we talked about resiliency, and Angie Kroeger said we need to be resilient and I think that's what we showed tonight."

Kroeger backed up her words with another solid-and selfless-performance as she battled for 10 rebounds, five steals, and a blocked shot.

Kennedy Nielson had another hot hand from the permiter, leading all scorers with 19 points including three of four shooting from three point land.

But Coach Dahl wasn't just pleased with the big performances.

"We had kids that stepped up huge for us tonight that haven't really had big opportunties in the past. I taked to Belen and told her we need more offense from her, and she was three for five form three point land and scored 11 points. And Bianca (Zamora) came in and did great stuff (eight points in 17 minutes), and of course Tristyn Salazar is always going to give us awesome defense," Dahl said.

BC will have another shot at a tournament championship when they travel to the Allan Hancock Crossover Tournament on Friday, January 6th at 7p when they play the host Bulldogs to open the weekend.

"We've always been a solid group, and we always played hard. When we were struggling in the beginning I said it would pay off, and I'm blessed with a phenomal staff and the women I get to work with," Dahl said.
