The Bakersfield College Women's Basketball team (15-9, 4-2) beat West LA (4-19, 0-5) 80-42 in the Gil Bishop Sports Center Saturday night.

"This isn't enough time," Coach Paula Dahl said of the end of the season's imminence, "We found out we can't win conference because we lost to Canyons and Santa Monica, and they didn't lose tonight. And barring both of those teams losing next week, and a miracle, this is it."

Kennedy Nielson led BC in scoring with 18 points, but Dahl was more nostalgic than celbratory following the game.

"This was such a team win, from a group of women who are so special," Dahl said, "And whether it's Angie Kroeger doing everything she can (nine rebounds, two assists, two steals), or Jules (Julie Olvera) selflessly running the point and scoring seven, pulling down five boards, dishing out seven assists and picking up four steals, I'm going to miss my four sophomores."

Dahl and BC faithful will have what most likely will be their last look at the 2017 team that overcame a dismal 0-5 start to being right in the thick of the conference championship race on Wendesday, February 15th at 7p when they host College of the Canyons in the season finale.

"It's pride. Wednesday's game is all about pride. But finishing the season with a win is a possibility, whereas in the playoffs, only one team gets to finish with the 'W'," Dahl said, focusing on the positive attitude that brought the team to a winning season after a dubious open.
