Bakersfield Grabs a Big Conference Win over Citrus

GLENDORA, CA - The Bakersfield College women's basketball team earned a key conference road win Wednesday night, holding off Citrus 75–66 at the Owls' Nest to improve to 12–7 overall and 4–1 in conference play.

The Renegades set the tone early, jumping out to an 18–12 first-quarter lead and extending the advantage to 35–22 at halftime behind efficient shooting and strong interior play. Bakersfield shot 48.3 percent from the field for the game and dominated the paint, outscoring Citrus 34–16 down low.

Danika Tolentino led all scorers with 18 points, knocking down 7-of-8 free throws, while Beautiful Vasquez delivered a standout performance with 18 points on 9-of-12 shooting and a team-high 11 rebounds for a double-double. Jamie Neaderbaomer added 11 points, and Alexia Ramirez chipped in 10 points and five rebounds. Lailene Araniva filled the stat sheet with nine points, eight rebounds, and five assists, while Mia Samaniego provided a spark off the bench, scoring nine points on a perfect 3-for-3 shooting from beyond the arc.

Citrus made a push in the third quarter, outscoring Bakersfield 27–19 to trim the deficit, but the Renegades responded in the fourth. Bakersfield shot 58.8 percent in the final period and closed the game at the free-throw line, finishing 12-of-14 (85.7%) from the stripe.

The Renegades also held the edge on the glass, 41–26, and capitalized on second-chance opportunities, scoring 13 points off offensive rebounds.

Bakersfield will travel to LA Valley on Saturday before returning home to close out the first half of conference on Wednesday against Canyons.
