First Half Goals Decide Renegades Loss

First Half Goals Decide Renegades Loss

Bakersfield, CA – Bakersfield College women's soccer was energized to play at home again, but a ten-minute stretch in the first half would decide the outcome of the game on Tuesday evening as the Renegades suffered a 2-1 decision against LA Valley.

For 20 minutes BC kept the Monarchs from getting through defense and scoring. It was in the 21st minute that LAV netted a volley above goalkeeper Katelyn Gonzalez's head. In the 28th minute, the Gades experienced a déjà vu moment and would be down two goals going into the half.

The Renegades were able to get a point on the board at the 63rd minute from midfielder Alexa Shearer by kicking it to the center right pass LA Valley's goalkeeper. BC kept their defense strong from allowing the Monarchs to score another point. Goalkeeper Sierrah Smith tallied a big save for the Gades in the final minutes of play.

With the home loss, the Renegades now move to an overall record of 1-6-1. Up next, they will head out on the road and play Santa Monica on Friday, October 15th at 1:30pm and Antelope Valley on Tuesday, October 19th at 1:00pm.
