Women's Soccer Wins 5-0 on Sophomore Day

BAKERSFIELD, CA - The Bakersfield College women's soccer team won big on a day where they needed the most, sophomore day.  BC celebrated their sophomore day in style, securing a resounding 5-0 victory over Glendale. Sophomore day is a special occasion for any sports team, as it allows the players to acknowledge and honor the contributions of their second-year teammates. The women's soccer team embraced this opportunity to recognize their sophomores, who have played an integral role in the team over the past two seasons.

Energized by the celebrations, the women's soccer team took to the field with a determined mindset after a tough season they had been having. The first goal came in the 24th minute, with sophomore player Shelby Laster set her teammate Arianna Noemi Garcia to score. Mariah Myers-Caldarella found the back of the net to give BC the insurance goal to comfortably lead the team for the half. 

Renegades defensively held their 2-0 lead going well into the second half of the game. With 25 minutes already in, teammate Denise Perez wanted in on the score-goaling action and graciously placed it in to lift BC 3-0. Garcia would set up sophomore Camila Moncada to lift BC 4-0 a minute later.  When you thought the scoring was done, the final goal came in the final minutes of play as Javen Silva
