Renegades End Losing Streak with a Big Win over LA Valley

BAKERSFIELD, CA- The Bakersfield College baseball team hosted the LA Valley Monarchs in the second game of a three game series and won, 9-3. This win give the Renegades their first in the last 10 games.

Monarchs got on the board on the first batter up with a single home run and ended the top of the first with a 2-0 lead. Renegades tried to equalized but ended the first with a run by catcher Xabi Iparragurrie.

LA Valley added a single run at the top of the third while Bakersfield matched the run. BC tied the game at the bottom of five with bases loaded and Andrew Townson coming home from a walk that was given to sophomore Jose Ruiz (3-3). First baseman Alek Martinez followed up that run hitting to right field to bring in Iparragurrie and the Gades took the lead (4-3).

At the bottom of six, Bakersfield held on to their lead and tallied another from Iparragurrie, who doubled out to right field for Townson to score the team (5-3). The Renegades were not done scoring, Grant Holleman singled to right field for Ruiz to add one more run in the seventh (6-3).

In the eighth, Ruiz hit a tripled to bring in Jarett Brannen while Martinez hit a double to bring in Ruiz and Holleman also hitting a double to bring in Martinez. Bakersfield easily took a 9-3 lead in route for their first win in 10 games. The Monarchs tried their luck at the top of the nineth but BC's lead would be too big to touch.
