Baseball Takes a 16-12 win over West LA

BAKERSFIELD, CA- The Bakersfield College baseball team hosted the West LA Wildcats in the first game of a three game series and won, 16-12.

The Wildcats got on the board first with one run but the Renegades followed with three runs, Jacob BakerAndrew Townson and Jose Ruiz all scored at the bottom of the first and took the lead quickly. Bakersfield scored an additional seven runs in the second inning before West LA added three runs at the top of the third and then scored four extra innings to start crawling through BC's lead (10-8) and eventually tie with 10 runs each at the end of six innings.  

The Gades managed to take their lead back with six runs, three in the seventh and three in the eighth and hold the Wildcats to only two more runs in the ninth to win the ball game. 

Tim Ruiz got the start on the mound for Bakersfield and went 4 innings with five strikeouts, Daniel Felix pitched the following four and had three strikeouts, while Brock Slikker pitched 0.1 and Cassey Jasso finished the game. 

The Renegades will head West LA for the second game of the series Thursday and return Saturday (4/23) for a 1pm game.
