Football's Thomas, Early & Brooks All Headed to the Next Level

Bakersfield, CA - Three Renegade football players have signed-on to continue their athletic and academic careers at the next level. James Thomas (So.-Independence, HS) has signed with Houston Baptist University, L.J. Early (So.-Tulare West HS) has signed with Fresno St and Nigel Brooks (Bakersfield HS) has signed with Grand Valley State. 

Thomas is already enrolled in classes at HBU and will be with the team for spring practice this semester. Thomas finished the 2018 season with 34 total tackles (23 solo, 11 assisted) and 1.5 sacks on the season as an outside linebacker for the Renegades. Houston Baptist is an NCAA Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) level school that competes in the Southland Conference for football. 

Early will begin practicing with the team and taking classes this coming summer. Playing defensive back for the Renegades this last fall, he had 47 total tackles (33 solo, 14 assisted), four interceptions and two sacks. Fresno State is an NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) school that competes in the the Mountain West Conference.

Nigel Brooks, whose last season on the Renegade football team was in the fall of 2017, will begin at Grand Valley State immediately. In the fall of 2017 as a defensive tackle for the Renegades, he compiled 39 tackles (20 solo, 19 assisted) and one sack. Grand Valley State is an NCCAA Division II level school that competes in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletics Conference.
