The Bakersfield College Softball Team (10-15-1, 6-3) continued their resurgence in Western State Conference play by sweeping a road doubleheader against LA Mission (14-11, 2-7) Tuesday in Sylmar.

BC won game one 4-2 in eight innings, with clutch hitting in the top half of the eighth inning.

Trinidad Lee led the eighth off with a solo homer to give BC a 2-1 lead. Then Alexis Rodriguez reached on an error and was doubled home by Alyssa Gonzales to make it 3-1 BC. Marissa Carillo pinch ran for Gonzales and was doubled home by Izzie Martinez to give BC a 4-1 lead.

Lee came on in relief of Marina Felipe, who gave up only one run in seven innings on a solo homer.

Lee picked up the save by getting the first two batters out on fly balls to center field before givung upo a double and a base hit to bring the tying run to the plate, and she slammed the door with a strikeout to seal the win.

In game two, BC topped Mission 11-7 in a wild game marred by a rain delay and a lighting issue.

"We were up 11-7 after Trini (Lee) gave up a solo homer with no outs in the bottom of the seventh," Coach Christie Hill said, "And then we sat through an hour long rain delay."

But that wasn't the end of the delays.

"Trinidad got a flyout and a groundout to bring Mission to their last out, and then the lights went out. So we had to wait about fifteen minutes for the lights to come back on, and then we had an error, and then a groundout to finally end the game."

Lee picked up the complete game win for BC in game two.

"I think the delays might have helped her, because she had a long day and it gave her time to regroup," Hill said.

BC plays next at Antelope Valley on Thursday, March 31st, and won't play at home again until an April 12th doubleheader against Santa Monica at 3p and 5p in the Dean and Adah Gay Sports Complex.

The Lady 'Gades will play seven of their final 10 games at home.
