BC Women's Tennis is experiencing a renaissance thanks to hard work and new energy.

BC Women's tennis (7-6, 2-3) took advantage of several defaults and hung tough in the top three spots to pick up a 9-0 win over Victor Valley (0-5, 0-4)  in non-conference action on Friday.

The Lady 'Gades took an early 3-0 lead because Victor Valley came to town short-handed.

After that bit of business, they swept doubles action.

"The highlight of the day might have been our #1 Ashley Guillen and #2 Lucy Cisneros taking down the very talented and tough (VIctor Valley) #1 Paige Jones and her partner #2 Victoria Craig," Coach Nick Laudermilk said.

Guillen and Moreno played #1 and #2 in singles, respectively for BC, giving usual #1 Riley Tucker a day of much needed rest before BC takes on the strong San Diego City team early on Saturday.

"We've had a tough schedule compared to a lot of other teams in our conference," Coach Laudermilk said, "You've got to pace yourself, and Riley isn't going to have any easy matches the rest of the way. I sat Kaylee DeFrees for similar reasons. She's had a lot of high-leverage matches this season, just because of how scoring has worked out. So it makes sense to let her steal a day of rest when I can."

Regular #2 Brittany Aguillar is battling a bug and BC's depth allowed Loudermilk some flexibility to give her rest and get some reps for Cisneros and Guillen a little higher up in the lineup.

In singles Ashley Guillen, Hannah Moreno, Diana brooks and Andrea Lopez all won in straight sets with Lucy Cisneros and Claire Tomboc winning by default.

BC Womens tennis team takes on San Diego City College (6-3, 5-1)Saturday at 9am in a non conference matchup at the Bakersfield College Tennis Courts.
