Former Renegade Debuts for the Atlanta Braves

BAKERSFIELD, CA - Former Bakersfield College baseball standout Allan Winans has been called up by the Atlanta Braves and made his Major League debut as the Braves' starting pitcher on July 22, 2023, in Milwaukee. The right-handed pitcher played for the Renegades under Tim Painton from 2014-15.

Winans was selected in the 17th round (No. 500 overall) by the New York Mets in the 2018 MLB Draft after transferring to Campbell University in 2016. Atlanta took the righty in the 2021 Rule 5 draft after topping out at AA with the Mets organization.

While At Bakersfield, Winans posted a 5-5 record with a 4.07 ERA and 57 strikeouts in 79 2/3 innings pitched as a freshman, and during his sophomore year, he pitched 94 innings with 81 strikeouts and a 3.16 ERA.

Overall, Winans is the 12th Bakersfield College Renegade to reach the majors. He has become the first Renegade to play with the Atlanta Braves.
