BC held their ground and closed out a win over LA Valley in the opening round of the Santa Barbara Tourney Thursday night.

Bakersfield College Men's Basketball (6-3) will take on Fullerton College (4-2) this Friday, December 2nd, at 1pm to kickoff the Antelope Valley College Tournament, in Lancaster, CA.

"It's relatively close by," Bakersfield College Athletics Director Sandi Taylor said of the less than two hour drive, "And this team is special and really fun to watch. Plus, we'll only get to see five league home games this year, so I'm going to grab every chance I can to watch this team compete."

BC is coming off a heart-breaking 78-77 overtime loss to Mt. San Jacinto College in the Championship game of Bakersfield's Thanksgiving Tournament last Sunday.

Despite the loss, Bakersfield showed plenty of Renegade Spirit in the two team wins that put them in the big game.

"We've got a lot of weapons, and we use them all," Coach Rich Hughes said, "We've got seven or eight guys who can score in double figures, and that's different from last year's team where we had these two guys (Co-Players of the Year Deandre Dickson and Jameik Riviere) who kinda did it all."

Hughes will appear on "The Renegade Report" December 1st at 11am on bakersfield.com.
