Coach Hughes said the Renegades "Kept fighting...but couldn't get over the hump" in a loss to Fullerton College.

The Bakersfield College Men's Basketball Team (6-4) had three seconds to turn the tide their way against Fullerton (5-2) but couldn't convert and lost a 62-60 nail biter in the opening round of the Antelope Valley Tournament.

"They scored with five seconds to go, and then we went down and came up empty to tie it," Head Coach Rich Hughes said, "It was a hard-fought battle, it was back and forth, we had the lead early, then they took it back. Then we got back in the second half, but we didn't finish it out. We've got to learn to finish games out."

Fullerton led by one point at the end of the first half, and also outscored BC by just one point in the second half. But there were definite bright spots.

"Tucker Eeningenburg came on in the second half and hit a shot and got to the free throw line and and got us back in the game from nine points down," Hughes said, "He was instrumental in getting us back in the game."

The coach said he saw what the difference was for BC in the tough loss.

"There were some immature decisions on our team that got Fullerton ahead, but our team responded and that was good. We responded and kept fighting, and we were right there, but we couldn't get over the hump."

BC will play LA Harbor College at 1p on Saturday, December 3rd.
