The Bakersfield College Men's Basketball team (12-8) upset San Diego City College (16-5) by a score of 73-71 to open their run at the Mira Costa tournament in Oceanside, CA Tuesday.

While Jamar Hammonds led all scorers with 15 points, Coach Rich Hughes was quick to point out that it was anything but one man's ballgame.

"Everybody contributed. Tucker Eenigenburg had 12 points, Jaylunn English had eight and more importantly, he had a couple of big blocks on the last two possessions of the game. And that's a guy not necessarily known for his defense, but he had a pair of big blocks that turned the game," Hughes said.

But the team will have it's work cut out on Wednesday.

"We'll play Miramar on day two, and we beat them by five points after being down most of the game, so I am thinking Miramar will be ready to seek some revenge," Hughes said.

In the meantime, BC can glean some confidence from what could be called a signature performance on the season.

"It was a good win, one of our best wins of the year," Hughes said, "We beat a ranked team, and a team that was probably top five in Southern California (#8 statewide by Massey Ranking System), so now we have to see what we can do the next two days."
