Bakersfield Falls to Cuesta in Ovetime

BAKERSFIELD, CA – With nine seconds left in regular time, sophomore Eloy Medina thought he had made the assurance three pointer to give the Bakersfield College men's basketball team the win but a quick layup from the visiting Cuesta Cougars sent the game into overtime. The Renegades fought until the end, but it would be the Cougars who went home with a 74-71 win.

A back and forth battle would start the game until BC took a seven point lead with 16 minutes left in the first half. Bakersfield kept their lead for the next seven minutes of the game until Cuesta managed to crawl back and tie the game at 18 points and tie five more time before the 'Gades ended the half with a two-point lead, 30-28.

Into the second half BC would start off the scoring drives once more and go on a 9-4 run. The Cougars tied the game again at 41 points and kept the game close taking turns to lead the game with Bakersfield with six minutes left in regular regulation. The contest ended tied at 69 points to force five extra minutes. A missed three pointer and a foul in the final minute gave Cuesta the win.

Rahmel Davis led the `Gades with a season high of 24 points and seven rebounds. As a team, Bakersfield scored more in the paint compared to Cuesta (46-38) and scored more off turnovers (21-10).

With the loss, the Renegades now move to 6-6 on the season.  The team will play a pair of road games before returning home in January to start conference.
