BC Struggles against Citrus at Home

BAKERSFIELD, CA – The Bakersfield College men's basketball team hosted the Citrus College Owls in the first game of the second half of conference play. The Owls currently lead the conference with no losses, and they showed the Renegades why they are currently leading by defeating BC, 83-67.

Bakersfield came out the gates running and taking charge of the game against the Owls. BC had a commanding lead in the first 13 minutes of the game and leading by 7-points. Unfortunately, their run came to a halt with 7:12 remaining in the first half, the Renegades scored their last field goal and the Owls took that momentum and ran with it. Citrus outscored the Gades 20-0 with the remaining time and went back to the locker rooms, 29-21.

At the start of the second half, CC stretched out their lead, stretching out as far as 21-points ahead of the Renegades. BC started to close the gap coming as close as 11-points with 8:16 remaining but Citrus continued to push against Bakersfield's flaws and took another 20-point lead with two in a half minutes left to play in the contest.

Leading the team tonight was sophomore Sean Fry with 17 points and 3 rebounds while Rahmel Davis scored 16 points on the night. Despite losing, Bakersfield shot 51% in field goals compared to Citrus 50%.

With the loss, the Renegades drop to to 11-11 on the season and 3-5 in conference. Bakersfield will play a road game against College of the Canyons on Wednesday before returning home on February 4th for a home match up against West LA. Tip off at 5:00pm.
