Bakersfield Sends the Pioneers Home with a Loss

BAKERSFIELD, CA – The Bakersfield College men's basketball team defeated the visiting University of Antelope Valley Pioneers, 97-63 on a rare Monday night game at the Gil Bishop Sports Center.

In the first half Bakersfield got off to a rocky start and trailed behind the Pioneers for the first seven minutes of the game. BC's Rahmel Davis scored back-to-back layups to tie the game at 11 points and helped the Gades take their first lead of the night and never looked back. Bakersfield went to the locker room with a 43-28 lead.

Bakersfield started the second half on the board first but their offense struggled a bit in the first six minutes and allowed Antelope Valley to only trail by 13 points with 14 minutes left in the game. The Renegades did not let the small slump let that ruin the rest of the game as BC finished the second half scoring 54 points total.

Leading the team tonight was Dusten Henderson and Sean Fry with a total of 16 points each while teammate Terrin Dickey finished the night with 9 rebounds. Bakersfield shot over 70% in the second half alone and had 13-4 second chance points.

With the win, the Renegades move to 3-3 on the season and will host on Friday night against Oxnard at 5:00pm.
